Diamond Anchor Livestock is located in Heflin, Alabama. We are just off I-20 half way between Birmingham and Atlanta. DAL was established in 2020 is owned by Harley Weathers and her parents Scott and Cindy Weathers.
We started out breeding in 2020 and in 2023 we started going to Kolby Burch’s in Seward, Nebraska to breed fresh to his rams to better our genetics. In 2024 I decided I wanted to focus on my Southdowns and building around my main donor Smurfette, so I sold off the bottom end of my ewes and the majority of my dorsests. Aside from Smurfette, her daughters and granddaughters, I only have a handful of other crossbred ewes as well as the Southdown herd.
When I created my website I wanted it organized by the Crossbreds and Southdowns and any other breeds I add in the future (it’s coming!). I included my donors and other ewes on there as well to give potential buyers/breeders a full picture of our operation.
My goal is to breed some of the best lambs in the state of Alabama and increase the quality lambs down here. Showing lambs isn’t as big in Alabama as it is in some other places. I made it my goal when I couldn’t show anymore I would do my best to raise top quality lambs to give back to the stock show industry. I love to learn more about the industry I fell in love with and have met so many incredible people who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge with me to help me succeed; for that I am forever grateful. I am working of growing my business and making my mark in the show lamb industry.
